Minister for Climate and the Environment Romina Pourmokhtari is participating in the UN’s third Ocean Conference, UNOC-3, in Nice. At the Conference, a declaration is expected to be adopted on the implementation of measures to protect and preserve oceans.

NATO Defence Ministers agree on new capability targets
At the meeting of NATO Defence Ministers in Brussels on 5 June, member countries’ defence ministers agreed on new capability targets for the Alliance. In conjunction with the meeting, Swedish Minister for Defence Pål Jonson also signed a number of agreements on behalf of Sweden.

Sweden provides SEK 10 million in humanitarian assistance to Save the Children in Gaza
The humanitarian situation in Gaza is dire. Children are particularly vulnerable and severely affected under the current circumstances. In light of this, the Swedish Government has decided to allocate SEK 10 million to Save the Children’s efforts in Gaza.

Head of UN Refugee Agency UNHCR on Sweden visit

On 4 June, Sweden’s Minister for Defence Pål Jonson will travel to Brussels to take part in a meeting held within the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG). Mr Jonson will take part in the meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence the day after, also held in Brussels.

On 21–23 May, Minister for Social Services Camilla Waltersson Grönvall and Minister for Older People and Social Security Anna Tenje visited Lviv, Ukraine. While in Ukraine, Ms Waltersson Grönvall and Ms Tenje took part in the Ministerial Social Policy Summit, which Sweden co-hosted together with Ukraine, Moldova and Lithuania. Ministers from several EU countries were also in attendance.

Sweden contributes SEK 4.8 billion to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capability
On 22 May, the Government instructed the Swedish Armed Forces to provide economic donations to multilateral funds and initiatives aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defence capability. These donations total approximately SEK 4.8 billion.

Benjamin Dousa’s visit to Egypt to focus on trade and humanitarian issues
On 26–27 May, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa is travelling to Cairo. He is accompanying a business delegation to promote Swedish exports and increased trade with Egypt. Mr Dousa will also meet with humanitarian organisations to discuss issues such as the acute and unacceptable situation in Gaza.
