On 4 June, Sweden’s Minister for Defence Pål Jonson will travel to Brussels to take part in a meeting held within the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG). Mr Jonson will take part in the meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence the day after, also held in Brussels.
The UDCG, also known as the Ramstein Group, is a coalition of nearly 60 countries and organisations that meet regularly to coordinate international military support to Ukraine.
On 4 June, defence ministers of countries in the UDCG will gather for a meeting on continued support to Ukraine.
The following day, NATO countries’ defence ministers will meet to set NATO’s new capability targets and participate in a working lunch with the NATO-Ukraine Council (NUC). The meeting of NATO Defence Ministers is an important prelude to the NATO Summit, which will be attended by heads of state and government on 24–25 June in The Hague.
Mr Jonson’s agenda in Brussels also includes a bilateral meeting with Ukraine’s Minister of Defence Rustem Umerov.
