Swedish Security Service lowers terrorist threat level
The head of the Swedish Security Service has decided to lower the terrorist threat level from level 4 (‘high’) to level 3 (‘elevated’) on a five-level scale. The decision is based on a comprehensive assessment.

Task force for Jewish life meets at the Jewish Museum
The first meeting of the year for the Government’s task force for Jewish life was held at the Jewish Museum in Stockholm at the beginning of March. The group’s focus area this year is Jewish life, which coincides with celebrations marking 250 years of established Jewish life in Sweden. The group will also continue to focus on security.

New EU Single Market strategy with focus on better opportunities for businesses to operate in the EU
Last week, the European Commission presented a strategy to reboot the Single Market. This new strategy contains more than 50 proposals with the aim to make it easier for businesses to trade in the Single Market, with an emphasis on dismantling barriers, creating jobs and stimulating growth.

SEK 20 million in support to Radio Free Europe
The Government has decided to provide SEK 20 million in support to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) in 2025. For a number of years, Sweden has been the third-largest donor in the world in support of free and independent media, and this decision is part of our continued efforts to support journalists and independent media. Following the United States’ withdrawal of its support to RFE/RL, people in many countries risk not having access to free media. Sweden’s support to RFE/RL helps journalists continue to broadcast independent and fact-based information to locations where media freedom is limited.

US President Donald Trump has announced that a new package of American tariffs will include Sweden and every other country in the EU. The new tariffs were presented on 2 April and will take effect immediately.

Investments in stronger military defence, measures against hybrid threats and increased support to Ukraine
SEK 25 billion to strengthen military defence; an additional SEK 16.5 billion to increased 2025 ‘Ukraine framework’; and a SEK 96 million package of targeted measures to counter hybrid threats. These are the proposals the Government will present in the forthcoming Spring Amending Budget. The Government and the Sweden Democrats have also agreed on a funding model to ensure that Sweden is able meet to a new, higher NATO spending target.

250 years of Jewish life in Sweden – anniversary year is underway
This year marks the 250th anniversary of Jewish life in Sweden. The anniversary is an opportunity to highlight the Jewish minority, Jewish culture and Jewish cultural heritage that is found all over the country. The Government has therefore tasked a number of agencies with contributing to the observance of the anniversary.

The Prime Minister presents Royal Order of the Polar Star to Jens Stoltenberg
Saturday 15 February, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson presented the Royal Order of the Polar Star to former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. The Order was conferred on Stoltenberg for his extraordinary efforts for Swedish interests.
